He can of course use the regular old lego parts from the kit to build things (robotic or otherwise). As far as the Mindstorm specific stuff he will probably find that less useful with the Scout. DISCLAIMER: I don't remember the exact part list for (...) (23 years ago, 14-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)
