Hi All,
I did a very similar thing for a Systems Design project in 3rd year at
Edinburgh University.
We built it using ARCOM embedded system boards to control the RCX and
webcams (it was running WinCE). This then talked to the Earth station
(Linux PC) using a standard serial connection.
Various flash controls and PHP sockets were used to send control signals to
the ACROM board (via the Apache server on the Linux PC) which then sent
programs to the RCX to move the robot it was attached to.
The WINCE board was used purely as an inconvienence., or thats what it
seemed like.
Any questions feel free to mail me.

Ok, this may not be a lego question, but I am hoping some of you will have
some suggestions. My engineering class is looking into the possibility of
building a Mars Rover Prototype. I was thinking that maybe this would be a
good handyboard project or even a parallax type project, but I am definitely
open to suggestions. We were even thinking about building a mars landscape
and running the bot via the internet. I would even consider some kits or
partial prebuilts. If you have any ideals, links to similar projects, or
just suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
