If you want the best economics, buy the Kirkland brand AA batteries at
CostCo in the USA. Here are CostCo unit prices for alkaline AA batteries:
Kirkland $0.23
Duracell $0.50 (2x Kirkland)
Duracell Ultra $0.70 (3x Kirkland)
As Mark says, there's probably little difference in performance between
these. Consumer Reports tested batteries about a year ago, including the
Kirkland brand. The Kirkland battery had the same score as the Duracells,
and the Duracell Ultra was just a bit better. They even speculated that the
Kirkland's where actually made by Duracell.
