If you use NQC then you can write a small program and load it into
the Scout...then it behaves much like the RCX. The Scout has VERY
little free memory - but it's enough to allow it to act as a dumb
peripheral, turning motors on and off and sending sensor readings
back when the RCX commands it to.
If you like, I'll email you the sources to a program that drives four
Scouts from a single RCX - reading their sensors and driving their
motors - and making sure they don't pollute the IR waveband by talking
at inappropriate times.
Beware though - the IR protocol is *horribly* slow...expect a significant
fraction of a second between something happening on a scout's sensor
and the message getting back to the RCX.
It's pretty neat to control 11 motors from one RCX!

| When you communicate between RCX's you set a number and then use the other end as a sensor to do a certain procedure. Does anybody know what happens when you send those messages to a scout. I know 1 is 'seek dark', 2 is 'seek light and 3 is 'do the (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
