Hi,
Yes, that's also how I understand the Slope Parameter. I have recently tried
to use it for locating navigational beacons. The idea is this, I found that
homing in on a simple constant light source was difficult unless the light
source was much brighter than any thing else. Instead I used the light
sensor in Boolean mode and varied the slope until it would only respond to a
flashing light. When the light doesn't flash, no response; once it starts
flashing the robot responds. This works fine when the light source is within
a metre or two, but it is much less dependable at greater distances. I also
noticed that it has a tendency to remain true even after the light has
stopped flashing, don't know if the light bulb was flickering and the sensor
was responding to this.
Anyway I think that this might be a use for the Slope Parameter,
Best wishes to all,
David Strike

| (...) has (...) sensor (...) The input would remain in whatever state it was in last. Depending on how much light it was seeing, when the flickering stopped it could be either on or off. (26 years ago, 13-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)
