Ncm is the metric measure for torque, imperial is ft/lb's hence 5Ncm is the the amount of torque required before the gear will 'slip', 2.5Ncm before it will engage again. the difference is the hysterisis. one would assume that Lego has a range of (...) (25 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) teeth (...) rotation (...) As far as I can tell, the minimum "breakaway" torque would be 2.5 Ncm (which would be Newtons*cm, or 2.5 Newtons weight, hung 1 cm out, or 1 Newton hung 2.5 cm out (about .22 of a lb, at 1" radius for those of you (...) (25 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) is (...) teeth (...) is (...) rotation (...) further? I'm not a real physicist so I'm taking the risk to add confusion instead of knowledge :-) I heard that the 2.5 and 5.0 numbers refer to the threesholds the gear starts to slip in the two (...) (25 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I think Ncm is Newtons per centimeter, but I can't remember how a Newton is defined. So, if you're spinning the drive shaft, and the counter force on the gear teeth is less than 2.5 Ncm, you're fine. If the counter force on the gear teeth is (...) (25 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

BTW, the Duplo MyBot control unit must have a similar sensor built in. It detects acceleration or tilt in four different directions. It's a closed system however, powered by 2 AA batteries. The set is $50 - not a cheap source for ripping apart for (...) (25 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Using the more restrictive criteria that the resistors only come from Radio Shack retail stores, you can't build a bullet proof four switch mux. However, I came up with a similar conclusion about the range of resistor values to use because of the (...) (25 years ago, 15-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I can answer a few of your questions. I was able to play with the Cam Last night. (...) It's USB so it requires That windows supports it. 98 and 98SE do as well as 2000.
