MyBot was shown during the Lego Kidvention at Legoland, CA.  It's targeted
at kids and has a small electronic chassis that kids can screw on Duplo
sized blocks that activate different functions on the chassis.  It uses the
new duplo blocks that screw together to make an 'unbreakable' structure.
The functions on the chassis allow you to attach a 'car' block to the
chassis and based on the movements you can hear the vehicle accelerated,
brake and other car noises as you play with it.  They have a 'plane' and
'robot' block as well.  The other cool blocks are a 'fuel' block, 'light
tag' block and 'alarm' block.  It's basically unmodifiable and
unprogrammable.  The blocks don't contain any 'code' they simply press down
a combination of 4 buttons that the 2 stud by 2 stud block rests on..  There
are two places to put the blocks on the chassis and therefore you can only
have two of the functions.

My kids thought they were great.  I thought they were ingenious, but that I
was 20 years too old for it. =)

I was browsing the official Lego press release area of their website;

http://www.lego.com/info/pressspecific.asp?PressReleaseId=117&Year=2000

and came across the August 14th item entitled

"LEGO Company adjusts its production capacity in Denmark"

Sad though this state of affairs may be, I was intrigued by a reference
in the last paragraph to "LEGO MyBot".

Does anybody out there know what this is about?

JB
