I imagine your supervisor will insist on some actual *difficult*
stuff - like making a robot with unusual strength/speed/dexterity/precision
or something. However, you'll want to at least *try* to make it fun too!

I only got Lego Mindstorms a few months ago - and I've been thinking
about what I want to do with it...perhaps some of the things I've
been thinking about will be of interest.
One area that intrigues me (for some unknown reason) is the idea
of taking some old computer game and making an electromechanical
implementation of it that you could still play.
I'm thinking of the idea of the joys of mechanical pinball tables
- but with more modern 'game play'.
Imagine (for example) Pac-Man in a real maze with real 'ghost'
robots (controlled by their own independent 'AI') with PacMan
being a robot that you can control (via IR) from the PC using a
joystick.
Perhaps 'Breakout' - with an RCX-controlled rocking/tilting
table that makes a ball roll as it would in the original
game - with a 'bat' that is driven by a Lego joystick. All
the 'bricks' that were in the original game are now Lego
bricks that fold down into the table when the ball hits them.
Even simpler: 'Pong'.
How about Lego space invaders!
Hmmm - taking it to the limit - Quake-III...there is a little
rubber dart shooter in the Robotics discovery set and with
the new Lego camera appearing soon - you could even get a
first person perspective view! Other people on the internet
would get to drive other robots around in the maze via
commands sent to them from your PC's IR Tower.
:-)
