The current sets will go the way of the dodo bird.
Take for example the 1.0. All of Lego's sites and instructions/books etc.
mention the 1.5 set and use 1.5 pieces. No mention of 1.0 users. Lego
moves on. They may come out with great future products or they could
really suck. There's no way to know. The 2.0 is coming out and it will be
a good RCX. I'd forgo the 1.5 as it doesn't have a power adapter port and
batteries add up fast. The scout is good but will fade away because it
can't be upgraded like the RCX's can.
I bought two 1.0's because I liked them. I'll probably get a couple of
2.0's too.
Lego's rules seem to be one year for a set, then it's discontinued...

| In Lego's defense, I think the once-a-year rule (at least when applied to the RCX) is less gimmick and more substance than it usually is for them. The 1.5 really did have more useful parts, and better documentation and parts. Looks like the 2.0 kits (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jun-00, to lugnet.robotics)
