...I was under the impression that the LEGO ir tower used a different theory of
transmission than the ir ports in PCs (or on the palm pilot) [something about packet
collection, but don't quote me!], so perhaps TV/VCR controllers use that same theory so
wont work with the IR tower?
...Have you tried the experiment with the mindstorms remote? If you see the same variation
with the mindstorms remote then maybe there is something quirky about the collection
routine?
