Due to an upsurge of interest, a new version of Gordons Brick Programmer
(1.4.5) is now available from http://www.umbra.demon.co.uk/gbp.html.
This Version fixes a problem in the library import mechanism and with
screen scaling on systems using non UK or US regional settings.
In addition, the Web pages have been updated to provide more information
about the facilities provided by the application.
For those of you who have not tried it, GBP provides the following
facilities:-
1) A visual editor which allows you to construct and edit programs more
quickly than you can type them (once you learn to use your mouse
properly) without having to worry about language syntax.
2) The ability to save and print programs in text format for
documentation purposes.
3) A library mechanism which allows you maintain sets of commonly used
tasks and routines.
4) Online help via the F1 key and a built-in tutorial.
5) The ability to execute any task, routine or individual command
without downloading it to the RCX.
6) A programmable, on-screen remote control keyboard.
7) A debugging screen which provides access to the data log and to
variable and sensor values via their symbolic names.
8) The ability to associated documentation with programs, tasks and
routines without having to use comments.
GBP is particularly suitable for the anyone who knows that C was a high
level assembly language invented in prehistoric times, or who wonders
why the nature of computer hardware has to stick out through so many
programming languages and poke them in the eye.
Have Fun,
Malcolm S Powell
