Actually, on the LegoMindstorms Internals site(not affiliated with TLG) I
saw a note that someone had suggested the possibility of inter-RCX
communication with the IR port - that way, when the 'killer' 'kills' the
'killee' they could send a message saying 'Bang! You're dead! I got you!'
To which the victim could respond with either 'Darn!' or 'No you didn't! No
you didn't! I had timeout!' Heehee.
Seriously, if anyone could figure out the RCX->RCX communications, all
involved robots could be required to have a function in their program that
shuts it down and emits an intermittent tone to mark its death.
Now that I've used up my quotation mark quota, I'll have to start using
double-quotes for a while.

could you have a coloured light or something?
Handily the RCX has three inputs, so . . .
One type of stimulus for each type of robot. Instead of
scissors>paper>stone it's light>heat>IR (whatever) (see discussions
elsewhere).
I guess you still have to have an input for bumping into stuff though :)
