HI Don.
although not a battle per say, we just recently had a robot competition
in Toronto. the general game was to have 2 bots collect marbles from a
8' x 8' playing field and return to a home square. it was not really
an aggressive event but we (the organizers) did talk about the
possibility of people dreaming up some aggressive robots and some of the
ways it could have been done. here is a link to the rules.

BUT when i put the idea forward many of the people involved basically
said that they did not want to enter a RCX battle bot type event for
fear of having their very expensive RCX broken. or for that matter any
lego broken. in one pic you can see a pic of an all lego multi-battery
box hammer.

People who do _real_ BattleBots often spend $5-10,000 of their own money and ridiculous amounts of time on a single robot, and they _know_ (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)
