  Re: Storing Data

(...) What you request is shared memory and shared memory is not a part of legOS. My way to simulate shared mem is to put the two (or more) tasks into one legOS program. Each task is started as a thread by an execi() call, triggered by the user via (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Using the Home-made One-way valve

Wow, I didn't realise that Christophe's home-made one-way valve would lead us into such deep discussion into vacuum storage and the like... On a more practical plane, here are some uses for the one-way valve (URL) they don't require you to have a (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Home-made One-way valve

If the surrounding environment is the same as what should be in the tank if not for the vacuum - since all are partial anyway - the the vacuum doesn't increase. The matter has to be the same. Andy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Baker" (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS2 Upgrade on W95 & Pentium(I)

(...) Yes - that'll be the problem. Win95 definitely doesn't support USB. There was a patch put out by M$ to add USB to Win95 but it didn't work well. ---...--- Steve Baker ---...--- Mail : <sjbaker1@airmail.net> WorkMail: <sjbaker@link.com> URLs : (...)   announcing the Handy Cricket!

(a little late for X-mas, but maybe in time for New Year's...) As many of you know, when I was at MIT one of the last things I worked on (from 1996 to 2000, actually) was a tiny robotics controller called the Cricket. In May, 2001, I obtained rights (...)   RE: RIS2 Upgrade on W95 & Pentium(I)

Well the concern there is that RIS2.0 uses a USB IR tower - which is not natively supported by W95. If you can get USB working, then you might be alright... HTH, James. (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Home-made One-way valve

(...) So you are happy to say that you can increase the amount of vacuum in a sealed tank by placing it at the bottom of a bucket of water? Mmm'K. ---...--- Steve Baker ---...--- Mail : <sjbaker1@airmail.net> WorkMail: <sjbaker@link.com> URLs : (8 (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RIS2 Upgrade on W95 & Pentium(I)

Has anyone succeeded in getting the upgrade to work on less-than-minimum-requirement PCs? In their infinite wisdom, LEGO has "upgraded" the minimum platform for the RIS. I'd like to be able to run it on my existing machine. Moving up to W98 is (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Home-made One-way valve

(...) If you had a 1 atmosphere vacuum in a blue LEGO tank and you took it to the bottom of the Mariana Trench you would have about 13,000 atmospheres of vacuum in it. And if you took it out into space you would have *no* atmospheres in it. All this (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)
