The thing I liked best was the large cockpit piece. It did not occur to
me, but my bf said when he saw it "boat stern!"

Now that is a great idea!  That way, the large cockpit piece is
actually useful.  The part could probably be used to as a boat bow as
well?  Apart from the fact that a symmetric boat might look a bit odd.

Prior to reading the post, I viewed the Loader Dozer as a collection
of lots of large, useless items.  (Well the bucket is cool, but I have
three already...)  Now I know that it has one less large useless item.
The large chassis is still a nuisance, wouldn't you agree?

BTW, you mentioned that you liked the tilting mechanism on the Loader
Dozer.  Perhaps you will enjoy looking at some images of a Loader Adam
Ogle built, which uses a similar mechanism to both lift and tilt the
bucket:

It uses the wheels and bucket from the Loader Dozer.

(His model originates from my own loader, though:

so this was a shameless plug anyway...)

I bought this set recently too and I liked it better than I expected. Not having seen the aqua-set with the same loading scoop mechanism it was new to me and I think it works well, especially for younger kids. The canopy hinges on mine did not pop (...)
