Re: Does anyone accually like 4561?

(...) SPUDs and POOPs? Special Purpose...stuff... and more stuff.... What are they? Kya (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Does anyone accually like 4561?

(...) Juniorization is more than just over-reliance on SPUDs and POOPs. It's the dorky design, the missing doors, the lack of realistic details. You know, everything you pointed out as being wrong with the set's design. I've got an old 4.5V tender (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.reviews)

  4x2ReVu: 4980 Tunnel Transport

Telestia is a dang good pilot (and she knows it) but signing on with Manwaring Underground Developers didn't entail anything like this. The Mammoth craft's finer points never included high marks for maneuverability, and angling it through a narrow, (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.underground)

  4x2ReVu: 6088 Robbers Retreat

The robbers' retreat sits nestled in the heart of a lush valley at the base of a dormant volcano. Once a temple to the spirits of the sleeping mountain, the robber Yoshimoto has since turned the abandoned edifice into a hideout and storehouse of his (...)   4x2ReVu: 6497 Twisted Time Train

I'll be posting reviews here (instead of for the site I used to write for). Some of these reviews are older but unpublished, and there will be many NEW reviews for newer sets (Star Wars, Insectoids, Rock Raiders, etc.). ---...--- 6497 Twisted Time (...)   Re: Does anyone accually like 4561?

snip (...) Yes. The stickers are stupid. I cut mine off so that they were not stamp'd (...) This is just reverting to a older way of doing things. I have plenty of 1*4 bricks with printed grills on them. James Powell (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Does anyone accually like 4561?

Yeah - I like it, and my mate Chris (a non-Internet AFOL) does too. I just got my 4561 on Friday and it looks a lot better built than it does in the catalogue. I won't say it's perfect - it has it's good and bad points. The obvious bad point is the (...) (25 years ago, 3-Oct-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.reviews)

  Re: This is a Throwbot?

Alex wrote in message ... (...) I have Jet, but no Scuba (...) I had no problem standing Jet. The joints are versatile enough to balance the center of gravity (...) At first I had trouble with this, but I have it down now. The way to properly throw (...) (25 years ago, 2-Oct-99, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

(...) I am not sure what the exact scale is off the top of my head but I will check my Essential Guide to Vehicles this weekend to see if I can derive anything from that. Eric Remove ".nospam" when replying be E-mail The New England LEGO Users (...) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

(...) I believe it is about 3 meters tall. Dunno how tall it'd be in Lego though. Jeff (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

(...) Not to beat the "not to scale" to death, but I was curious the other day, and calculated the height an AT-AT would be if that piece were used for the feet, and it was built to scale with the 'foot's width... It'd be about 20 centimeters tall. (...) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

(...) But it could be useful as the top of an AT-AT foot, possibly. I don't like the way TLG has aggresively started to use this piece as a unibody for small vehicles. The only bad part about set #4910. Steve (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

Maybe if they marked the 4950 (and most of the Rock Raiders) line as ages 6-8 I wouldn't have such a problem with them. But as an overall value, these sets in general are awful. They just don't have that much building value - my 8 year old likes the (...) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

(...) I agree that it looks like an AT-AT foot but it would be terribly out of scale I think. It might work better as an AT-ST or AT-PT foot. Eric Remove ".nospam" when replying by E-mail The New England LEGO Users Group (URL) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

(...) Yes, it does indeed have the sloped control stand in teal. I was a bit surprised to find this part myself, I admit. And the grey odd "plate" which forms the base of the vehicle is really cute. It looks pretty much like an AT-AT feet, I think. (...) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.reviews)

Re: Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

Does it have the sloped control stand in teal, or are my eyes deceiving me? (BTW I need one of those in white if someone has some, I can trade grey or black for it) Just think, a 6990 Futuron monoral with teal accents, wouldn't that look cool?   Cudo's to 4910 and an Ugh to 4950

I just thought I would throw in by 2 cents worth on these 2 sets. First let me say that I do not personally own 4950 but my nephiew got it recently and I helped him put it together so I have first hand knowledge. Personally I think 4950 ( (URL) ) is (...)   Re: Does anyone have the 8479 bar code truck?

(...) I haven't opened my Robotics Discovery Set yet, but from the box, it looks like it comes with 2 clutch gears. The RIS really should have come with clutch gears. (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.reviews)

Pontoon Plane vs. Biwing Baron (Re: My favorite Adventurer sets)

(...) Hi, Kevin. I originally gave a response here: (URL) I'll try to give some abbreviated comments again here. I guess my main gripe with the PP is that the two sets of wings are too close together (in my opinion the upper wings should be above (...)
