Of the subject, how do you like your Nikon Coolpix (dscn*.jpg)? I love
ours!!

I like it. I got the 800 and I perhaps didn't get the very best deal, it
cost me 525 after rebate but I spent another 100 for a 32M memory card and
30 or so on rechargable batteries.

That's not too bad.  I got mine about a month before the price drop, when it
was still in the $700 range.

I like the features on it, the resolution, and the zoom, although I wished
it had a bigger zoom ratio.

Apparently there's a lens pack you can get for it that comes with a wide-angle
and a zoom lens.  They never seem to have it in stock at my local store,
though.

The way you unload pictures is well thought out
but 115kbps makes for a slow process, it takes 30 min or so (and most of a
battery charge) for a full unload.

You're not a Mac user, or I could help you out a lot on that.  (Cameraid,
shareware - it rocks! but for Mac only)  If your PC has a USB connector,
though, I strongly recommend one of the cheap CF card readers - they're about
$30 and make it work basically just like a disk in terms of moving pics on and
off the card.

This makes it somewhat impractical to
unload if both the PC and the camera are on batteries at the time unless
both are fully charged or close...

Very true.  I always do my downloading - and some of my photography! - with
the camera plugged into the wall.

From the other post:

I believe the 800 may be superceded by the 880 though. Either that or the
880 is a new model but it appears to have a similar camera body.

They dropped the price severely on the 800 when the new models came out, so I
suspect that the 880 is meant as a replacement. I haven't checked on it to
compare the features, though.
