  RE: CSV delimiters

(...) I agree. I was trying to hack an Excel file into some usable html, and those "" made it nearly impossible for me to do search and replaces to get valid html without messing it up in other places. --Bram Bram Lambrecht BXL34@po.cwru.edu (URL) (25 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) Eeek -- shame on me -- did I just say "it's" when I meant "its"? Anyway, I forgot to say: The idea of escaping quotes is *bizarre* in the first place. IMHO, there shouldn't *be* any closing double-quote character on a field once it has already (...) (25 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) I hate it too. IIRC, Excel uses "" instead of \" for an escaped " -- but I could be wrong. I just remember hating it once when I looked at it. :) One nice thing, though, is that Excel can import tab-delimited text, so that's it's saving grace. (...)   RE: CSV delimiters

(...) Sorry, I can't help. And I hate the way Excel outputs in plain text. But since it's 2:30 in the morning, I'll make useless comments. Sounds like you're working on the question I asked...augh, and I just entered all the sets manually. Oh well, (...)   CSV delimiters

Is there any "official" or "reasonably standardized format" for CSV (_C_omma _S_eparated _V_alue) data? I guess it's pretty obvious, mostly, but how are the delimiter characters typically encoded (specifically: comma, double-quote, and newline)? In (...)   Re: Resolved: Yahoo is good for the 'net (was Re: Lego Maniac's Webring and Yahoo

(...) Here's a sample page: (URL) not as bad as I originally feared - but the limited logo size and standardized navbar is a definite drawback to the new system. I'm SHOCKED that Yahoo wasn't mentioned ANYWHERE on the code. I'm still beefing (though (...) (25 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.publish)

[Added .publish to ng list; IMHO, this is actually more on-topic to .publish than it is to .off-topic.debate...] (...) Wow, wait, so lemme see if I can get this straight -- ? -- under the new Yahoo! Webring system, your ring logo has to be no bigger (...) (25 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.publish)

(...) Just attach a big ME TOO to this one. And also no offense. John your models are great. It's just the site that's being fickle. Bryce McGlone (25 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.publish)

In lugnet.publish, Suzanne D. Rich writes: <nifty book> Cool (...) Where in the ULR do we need to insert the /lugnet/, and at what step. For instance, showing us where it goes in the following URLs might be helpful. (or are they not what you were (...)
