I think what you are doing is correct... or at least it is what I do :-). You
can saze your self a little time by getting a shareware of freeware package
which allows you to do all this "automatically" - one I have even made a tray
at outputing the basic html.
Another way to do it is to resize the pictures on screen (ie load your 640*480
image into a 320*240 space). To do this use:
<p><img src="http://www.www.www/www.jpg" width="640" height="480"></p>
This is what I have done on this page:

As you point out, it will take longer for a user to load your index if you do
this. However, as the user has already cached all your pics to view the index,
viewing them full size is "instant".
In there another way? I am 100% self taught via trial and error!
