Reprendre
=============
The privateer Reprendre is the latest from Port Brique yards.
Inspired by some the recent work displayed on .pirates, the Reprendre
represents a return to shipbuilding for me, and incorporates several
improvements over my earlier large (4 centre section+) vessels: the
Eponine II, the Misérable and the HMLS Intractible. The hull curve is
more graceful (ala Stephen Rowes work) and the tops more substantial
(Kurt Batys work). And the colour scheme is very traditional (I have
yet to apply the Baty-esque electrical tape though).

Thanks for credit!

Im happy with the outcome, and although Reprendre has used up a goodly
portion of my shipbuilding supplies, theres more being planned...
|
Richie, I like it a lot, but I think your bow good be better, its too
squaresh and the stem is to thick and not far enought forward of the keel.
|
Its amazing what one can become used to. You are right, of course, now I go
back and look at it, it doesnt look right at all. Im not too concerned about
its squareness, but it is too far aft. A bit more space for the capstan
wouldnt go astray either.
Ah well, whats another visit to the dockyard?
|
Your top deck forward should be even with the rise of the keel (the edges of
the bow piece).
|
Yes. I think brining the keel back a stud (or two, even) would help as well. I
think Ill raise the deck forward of the foremast by a plate or two as well, to
better capture the fore and aft curve as aft and fore!
Thanks! Its always good to have a critical eye look over a vessel.
Its going to be awfully tempting to add another couple of gunports when I
rebuild.... hmmm...
Cheers
