| Hi, it's Jono..... I've been noticing that there has been NO even RELATIVELY interesting talk here!!!!! ...lol......anyhow, I figured I'd start something up: Which set do you think is better, the 6285 BSB, or the 6286 SES?? Give reasons why. Jono (24 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| (...) Short answer: read down to my thoughts on ships on this page: (URL) was derived from this post: (URL) reasons why I rate 6285 higher: - more subdued color scheme (says the creator of the HMS Bugsplat - a green and yellow ship - (URL) ) - the (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| (...) Here here. The BSB is far better than the SES. Then again, considering that I used to own a BSB and I cant remember ever seeing a SES except as pictures online that might affect my judgement :) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| (...) Sorry to disagree: in terms of playability, the SES definitely is the better ship - the more when your ships are equipped with shooting cannons. While it is quite difficult to shoot cannonballs due to the very limited space on board of the (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| (...) I'm afraid my favorite is the SES! But it depends on how you are looking at it. Built to the instructions, I would take the SES over the BSB anyday! But if you are looking for parts, then I would take the BSB over the SES! Reason being is that (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| (...) From a playability standpoint, definitely the SES is better, but as more of a modeler or wargamer, those "playability" features don't add much. The BSB is easily modified to have a 4 gun broadside (check out my RSB). The capstan on the SES is (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| 6285 compared to 6268: the first one you own for the 'looks' (the original owner build it in real also mostly for show-off...!), the second one is best for playing. My kids (6 and 9) are allowed to play with all my Lego-sets, and the ships with easy (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| It's Jono again....I'm glad to see SOOO much feedback. anyhow, i was considering trading my (unused - opened, but unused) Mindstorms 1.5 kit for a used 6286.....i wanted to get any of your opinions on whether it is worth it. Thanks. Jono (24 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)

| (...) That would be a decent deal, especially if you got the Mindstorms on sale. I paid about $170 for each of my 6286s, but I was also very patient. One came from the AucZilla 500 sets auction (w/o minifigs) for $170, the other came from a Tom (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.market.appraisal)
