Sorry to disagree: in terms of playability, the SES definitely is the better ship - the more when your ships are equipped with
shooting cannons. While it is quite difficult to shoot cannonballs due to the very limited space on board of the BSB, the rotating
cannons on board of the SES are very convenient for gunners! The missing planks on the sides give more space for your hands, and
the rotating cannons allow a better manouverability. I guess most changes that happened to the SES have been undertaken to enable a
better shooting of the cannons, a fact that may be overlooked easily in the U.S. where this feature is generally not available.
Also, the capstan and the sophisticated steering mechanism of the SES are additional features the BSB is lacking.

| (...) From a playability standpoint, definitely the SES is better, but as more of a modeler or wargamer, those "playability" features don't add much. The BSB is easily modified to have a 4 gun broadside (check out my RSB). The capstan on the SES is (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.pirates)
