Thanks, Alan.
Actually, what got me hooked was reading "Pillars of
the Earth" by Ken Follett. It's set in 12th century
England, and is a must for any Castle-head who wants
to be accurate. Unbelievable. The basis of the book
is a group of people who all devote their lives to
building a cathedral in their town, and the
difficulties around doing that. It got me thinking
about the similarities between the Norman-era style of
design and building out of LEGO. This is before
flying butresses and all that frilly stuff, and they
hadn't discovered pointed arches yet. Perfect for my
medium. It has become a bit of an obsession.
Last night I set out the baseplates to start the
actual build, and saw how large this thing is going to
be (3.5 x 2 green plates, or 112 x 64).
Hopefully I will have it done by the next meeting. I
will post pictures of my progress as I make some...
;)

| I tell you what, Laura, I was very impressed with the Cathedral. Fantastic job! Better than I could imagine myself doing. The photo of the interior is my favorite and that photo itself is impressive and sort of imposing in the way it makes the model (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.org.us.texlug)
