The meeting focused on getting details set for the Sumobot contest.
The contest will be held June 10, 2005, with optional test and debug
sessions on 4/10 and 5/8. The contest will be announced shortly, and
the rule set will be posted to Tim's website.
Kurt brought his 12-gun schooner model, as well as his more recent
cannon models (LUGNET and Brickshelf links below). Both, as usualy,
were spiffy. Kurt is planning to bring his entire fleet of Texas
naval ships to the all-Texlug meeting in San Antonio next month - it
should be an impressive sight.
We also discussed sumo robot construction techniques, specifically
tire choices and how to maximize pushing power with multiple motors
using adder-subtractor mechanisms. The library's free WiFi access
once again proved highly useful as we netsurfed for various
construction examples (see below).
