Re: February 26th, 2011 SMART meeting

Just a reminder: we'll have our next SMART meeting in two weeks. The mini-challenge is to build a plotting robot of some sort. If it can draw, color, paint or even just make a pretty line on some sort of surface, it counts! See you in two weeks! -- (...) (14 years ago, 12-Mar-11, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: February 26th, 2011 SMART meeting

We had a nice SMART meeting today, though because of the weather, not too many people showed up. Nevertheless, there were a few very interesting 'tracking' robots. Great job, everyone! For next month (March 26th) we voted on building a "Plotting (...) (14 years ago, 27-Feb-11, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  February 26th, 2011 SMART meeting

Our last SMART meeting went really well! There were lots of really good robots that people built on the spot to solve the task presented! In fact, I had a couple of people comment that they would like to do something like this again on a more (...) (14 years ago, 16-Feb-11, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: January 29th, 2011 SMART meeting

Last reminder about tomorrow's SMART meeting. The meeting will start at 2pm in the Michelangelo room at Digipen (located at 9931 Willows Road in Redmond). After you go through the lobby, go down the right hallway, and the room is on the left, (...) (14 years ago, 29-Jan-11, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Motors comparison page updated

(...) No, purely resistive. Although it does have a "boot up" time, I think it's just due to heating up the element. I'm not completely sure if the element will respond better to a "dimmer" type set-up (running it at less than normal voltage) or a (...)   Re: January 29th, 2011 SMART meeting

(...) That sounds like a great plan though we did actually pick a mini-challenge at the last meeting. I should have posted something about it but I guess I never got around to it. My bad. The proposed mini-challenge was to make a non-traditional (...) (14 years ago, 14-Jan-11, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  January 29th, 2011 SMART meeting

In just over two weeks we'll have our next SMART meeting. We'll meet at the new DigiPen building, from 2pm to 5pm. As no mini-challenge was posted, we'll try a very low-key variation on BrickHeap Wars for this meeting. It will be an individual (or (...) (14 years ago, 14-Jan-11, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Motors comparison page updated

(...) Interesting thread, even if a bit off topic of LEGO motors. I'm not an expert on power circuits, but a google search turned up this web site with a number of interesting power supply circuits (there is a search option).   Re: Motors comparison page updated

(...) Good thing, the load is not inductive. (...) OK, with a 1 second cycle time, and pure on/off, it is simpler. All you need is a solid state relay. (...) Looks like some people do: (URL) and worse, most of these dimmers work by dissipating and (...) (14 years ago, 13-Jan-11, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Motors comparison page updated

(...) I've been operating outside my personal SOA for years now :) (...) It's actually not a motor - it's a small electric hot water heater element. When plugged in it produces 1300W, but if I want less than that I need to figure out some way to (...) (14 years ago, 13-Jan-11, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.org.us.smart)
