I talked with David and Gus, and the challenge is to build walking robots. We
are going to follow the format of the Robothon walking robot competition, and
will have an arena that meets the specifications of that competition at the
meeting to test out and time the robots. Here's the link to the Robothon page
that explains the competition rules, etc.:
http://www.robothon.org/robothon/walking.php
For younger members who might have difficulty getting their walking robot to
turn around and return back to the start area on the arena, they can make a
walking robot that just traverses the arena from the "start area" to the "turn
area", and stops in the "turn area" of the arena.
Per the rules on the Robothon web page, all walking motion must be cyclic, not
rotary (e.g., just putting legs on a wheel that rotates isn't allowed).
We look forward to seeing all of the creative walking robot designs that
everyone comes up with!

| Time is sneaking up really quickly for our next meeting! The meeting will be November 15th at DigiPen from 2 to 5pm. The mini-challenge is a walking robot race - walk to the end of a field, turn around, and return to the starting spot. See (URL) for (...) (16 years ago, 6-Nov-08, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
