Sorry I sniped everything out, too much to go through. One thing we should
definately consider for this event is flexibility. Here in Lugola we have
long strived to be as considerate to the distances people have to travel. It
may be best to have brickfest a roving event. I feel that back in April we
had a mini brickfest at Brad Hamilton's house in Irvine where people from
all areas came and were thrilled by Bryce's mechs, Brad's city and all kinds
of other goodies.

Let's look at the particulars, there are a good deal of folks in Southern
California (LA and San Diego); there is also a good number of folks in the
bay area, and in Seattle. This does not even take into consideration the
folks more inland, like Arizona, Utah, and Nevada.

In my vision of a true Brickfest west we would share hosting duties between
Lugola, Baylug, Sealug, Wafol, Bayltc, Pnltc, and Scltc. I would also love
to include our Canadian neighbors as well in Viclug and Vlc. Now we must
consider a couple of things 1. where is "central" to everyone and 2. Is that
location also contain alternative entertainment for our non lego spouses and
children. (This would make it easier for some of us to justify the expense.)

In a nutshell (sorry this post is so long) I would recomend an annual event
that rotated its location and host lug, our first brickfest may be hosted by
lugola, then the next event may be hosted by sealug, etc. etc.  These are
just my ideas, please give me any input you see fit.

(...) I agree it is non-central, but like you said, there is a big Lego event there every day, that is what makes it a great location. I know there were alot of Lugnetters out in Carlsbad not to long ago, but I think there is more than enough locals (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jul-01, to lugnet.events, lugnet.org.us.lugola)
