OK here are some pics from Sunday.

Wow, that Lego train layout rocks!

I would have loved to see all this great stuff in real life. After an hour of
surfing through all the GATS pictures I'm really impressed.

My favorites have been the shell fuel station and the new roundhouse with
turntable.

You'll be seeing those again, as both of them were built modularly. I know
I've raved about the turntable before but one thing to realise is that the
entire turntable from the top of the rails to the baseplates it rides on is
just over 3 bricks high. Steve did some pretty clever engineering to fit it
into such a shallow depth.

I did it in the same height, but I have to agree that Steve has done a better
Job, since the turntable of mine was not working in the 3-height version. For
the X-mas event I had done a change to a hand powered intermediums version
(the steering wheel was meant to drive the turntable in this version.)

In the meantime I have made some improvements and built my modules 5 bicks
high. Now it works with the motor stationary in the modul and with only one
cable as power supply for the turntables track.
But since the appearence of the whole module is nearly unchanged I have not
uploaded any new pictures of this latest turntable so far.

It moves very smoothly too. Steve had magnets mounted at the track positions
to cause the turntable to want to be centered correctly as it got close but
that had the effect of introducing jerkiness, so he pulled them.

Most other turntables I've seen are a bit deeper than that.

In fact: that has to be a really clever design. Thanks for sharing these
informations.

Leg godt!

Ben
