Well, I had a ton of fun in Cortland on Saturday. We have GOT to do it again
SOON !!! I just finished viewing John Rudy's pics and I laughed when I saw
the
shot of my little museum of my favorite Lego parts. The shots of the derailed
train came out great and I love seeing my own creations online.
Thanks to all for compliments and critiques of my vehicle and train models.
After the meeting, I went to Peter Jarvis's home to continue talking Lego and
to stay the night. Sunday morning I did a bit of traveling to see some sights
and to visit with people in Ithaca and Auburn. In the afternoon I got on the
Thruway for the trip back home but my car did not make it. So I had a nice
ride in a tow truck with my car following behind. This is the first time I
have ever needed a tow truck. So I eventually arrived at home and my car is
now at my local auto repair shop.
I am happy to report that no harm came to any of my Lego models that I had
carefully boxed up after Saturday's meeting and they are safely back in my
Lego
room once again.
Now, since I took such abuse <grin> over my train models, I set to work this
evening making modifications. And even though Wayne instructed me NOT to
build
any more trains I even built a few new passenger cars :) My Blue metroliner
is
now almost completely re-built with 2 Dark Gray stripes as suggested by John
Rudy (sorry Wayne but Yellow stripes don't appeal to me). And the
undercarriages have all been retrofitted with Black log bricks where the Black
corrugated bricks were previously and I am happy with the result. I will make
more modifications to the locomotive unit when I get the time.
Now that I have some practical experience with passenger cars I will attempt
to
build a series of them for my SuperChief locomotives and also a nice B-unit or
two (for the typical A-B-B-A consist). I also want to build an all-Black F-7
(Penn Central??) locomotive or 2 since I have the necessary parts on hand.
These will likely be assigned freight duty.
As for my too-tall boxcars (7 bricks tall not including the roof) that always
tipped over and fell off the tracks, I will be re-adjusting the height of
those, too, in the coming days.
And I have learned that I should make some test runs of my models on live
rails
so that Wayne doesn't have so much to laugh at <grin>.
Well, that is enough for now.
I look forward to seeing the shots that other people took of Saturday's
meeting
when they become available.

P.S. Dave Amos--you missed a great time. Hope your Spring Break was
enjoyable, though....
