The matches were decided by (1) Wins, (2) Touches,

So to clarify, if the games were a draw and no touches were needed, the
winner was the one with the lowest time. But if even one touch was needed, a
slower robot that was better at block placement would win (because it didn't
need a "touch"), correct?

7) Brian Davis:  Several of us thought he had the most reliable
robot, from previous gatherings.  He was so confident he could
win, he didn't even show up.

To defend my honor (what little I have), I was taking my lovely wife out on a
date on the day in question. I was actually *not* that confident at winning,
because while mine is fairly accurate, it's still slooow. Faster than Kerby's,
but not by much.

1) Steve Hassenplug... after everyone else abandoned rotation
sensors, one was added back, and the robot required only two
touches during the day.

Congradulations! But only needing two touches during the day works out to
only a 7.4% error rate on placing cubes - not bad at all. It sounds like a lot
of designs got a lot better over the course of this contest.

As it turns out, anyone could have won.

I doubt that. For one thing, I would have had to have shown up :|.

Most of us are going to hang onto our robots, because they will
make fun demos for various other events.

I know I will, as the weekend before I ran it at an event in Ann Arbor. It
ended up playing 50+ games against all comers, and was a big hit. Now, i need to
figure out how to trim the code, so I can move on to having it play other (more
complicated) games.
Actually, the #1 most popular feature was that mine would clean up and reset
itself after a game. I lost count of the number of times a parent asked my if I
could program their kids to clean up after themselves.

   Any pictures on-line yet?

  Tic Tac Toe Results

So, we've been playing with Tic Tac Toe for a couple months. Of course, at the same time, several of us have been working on other stuff, as well. We finally had our Tic Tac Toe event yesterday. It was a very cooperative event. Every robot played (...) (19 years ago, 20-Mar-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
