| (...) I think you've already guessed, correctly I might add. A shim is just something that slide in between two other things to make it fit, or make a little more snug, or whatever. In our case, boards of varying thicknesses to stick under table (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
