With next year being the 25 anniversary of Lego Space I wanted to build a
tribute to this great theme.  I chose one of the original Classic Space sets,
the 886 Space Buggy and built it 12 times larger.

See it at my first MOCpages page:

http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/2063

I must say the combination of Brickshelf and MOCPages provide an incredible way
to show off your MOCs.

Derek

That is INCREDIBLE! I love that way that each giant piece is a separate part. The giant "mini"fig alone would be great. Combined with the buggy, it's just awesome. (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Simply amazing, Derek. When we first saw it at dinner, I think we were ALL blown away, robot and train fans alike. Like you, I was also a big Classic Space fan too! (URL) one time violation of the shoebox rule (grr) was well worth it. :) Calum (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) <wipes tear of nostalgia from eye> A fitting tribute to the one that started it all. That, along with 885* were the first space set I ever received. Was that really 25 years ago? yoiks! (...) Wow, this is supremely cool. I love how every brick has all of its details shown built in, like the studs and the stud holes on the undersides of each brick, and your minifig is very well done indeed. Adrian (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Derek: At dinner when you showed everybody your big set, I will begrudgingly admit that it was kind-a cool. good job. although a robot would have been a better use for those gears. (smirk) Chris p.s. i still think your a freak for doing it. (unless (...) (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Hi Derrick, That's really amazing. As a classic space fanatic, all I can say is wow! I love the way you made the big minifig, especially the fact the legs work. :) -Anne (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Derek, Amazing creation. Any one of your oversized pieces is a great sculpture in and of itself. Together they leave me speechless. Bruce (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) WOW! This would have been awesome enough as a sculpture, but to make a bunch of separate giant bricks! It boggles the mind. Nice Job Daniel Rubin (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Very very nice. Is the "minifig" based on the 2723 with the legs rebuilt to be functional or it completely a new design? Working on a 10x scale 'brick' horse myself, I see I'll need to do up a rider for him now... (URL) (21 years ago, 22-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
