Hi Derek,
If you're after an "easy-to-do" 4-wide design by LEGO, I suggest the two
that can be found on set #2140. The parts for either of the two are
relatively easy to find in large numbers and in a wide set of colors, so you
can set up a large display.
Still 4-wide, try Kotaro Ono's Smart (or any other of his designs).
For other widths, I suggest you contact Ben Beneke in .trains, he has a
number of 5-wide designs of great quality - the VW Beetle being one of my
favorites.
