Hey folks,

So I was packing up my cubicle the other day and down came the various items
of Lego.  First went the Supercar II, the 8466 4x4, the Miami Beach Patrol,
the Search Sub.  Then went the Nortel logo, the Lego M1 PBX models.  The
customized Lego Soccer field with CallPilot, OTM and Meridian 1 logos in the
sideboards.  Ah, the memories.  People coming by to drive the motorcycle
around, play a round of Lego soccer, leave random pieces of hardware on my
desk...

And finally, I packed away Mario's Christmas gift to me:

It's a mosaic of my office security pass photo.  The day I got it, I put it
up on the top of my overhead cabinet, so it would peer out to the outside
traffic in the aisles, perhaps to attract people to come in and chat.   Then
it got eerie:

People would come by and say, hey, that's a cool mosaic!  Why did you make
it of yourself?!  And then I would have to explain it was made by Mario.
But then I figured, you know, people might think you're vain to make a
mosaic of yourself.

The other thing was that while it was easy to say "Go to the 11th Floor, and
look through the door.  See the Lego?  That's where my cubicle is.", it was
awfully scary to see my head poking up over the tops of the cubes watching
out over cubeland.  You'd come back from lunch and you'd see yourself.  It
was like the last vestiges of the Chris Magno head looking out of your 3033
tub while you built Lego or watched TV.

So, I pulled it down a few days later and I never got a chance really to
appreciate it.  A few days ago, I took it home-didn't realize how amusing it
really was.  Thanks (again) Mario!

Calum

My mother says that Nortel is now a poorer place, and asks what you are doing now? Calum Tsang wrote: <snip because the server didnt like what calum said> (22 years ago, 5-May-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
