Hey.
Here are some interesting but technically challenging ideas to try:
a) Mosaic Maker. Build a machine that uses a Mindstorms mechanical assembly
alongside a PC driving it with a VisionCommand or other small webcam, that
can digitize and then build a 48x48 mosaic out of small Lego pieces. It
could take all the 1x1 flats from a S@H Mosaic and lay them out into place.
This would be like ProjectX but 10 times harder. But of course you'd need
to have a computer attached to it.
b) Coin sorter. Design a machine that takes a pile of change (ie, the kind
that accumulates on your desk, night table etc) and sorts it into each
denomination.
c) Event Donation Machine. Similar to b), build a machine that can take a
coin donation, do something unusual with it (ie, a marble run, a sorter,
whatever) then deposit it into a coin box.
