This is probably exciting news for me only. But I'm excited about it.
As most of you know I use Lejos for programing my RCX. Well the Lejos
project now has a new project called iCommand which allows Java
applications on a PC to remotely control an NXT over Bluetooth.
http://lejos.org
The project is in it's early stages and setup is a little ruff. At
least for me on OS X. I've spent the last 5 days working around little
problems before I managed to get the first connection made.
But it does work. I've turned a motor on and off and read a touch
sensor. Not a lot so far for 5 days work. But it's a start.
The reason I'm so excited about this is it removes dependence on
programing the NXT itself. Full power of a PC is available for logic
and control. <Evil laugh>
Eventually, once custom firmwares are available, I would hope to write a
better remote control interface to run on the NXT. But for now it's a
good start.
