I always wondered how Steve got so tall. I thought it was just something
genetic.
ChiBots in Chicago has an interesting rule that I think adds to their events
(they do run events again and again). The winner from the last event can't enter
the next event of the same type (except as a demo). Yeah, it means you may not
always be going up against the very best... but it does make it a lot more
interesting to enter, knowing that in some years you have a better chance
(perhaps) of "winning".
Have you guys ever done a LEGO micromouse, either in a walled maze or
following lines? That was actually a very challenging (for me) ChiBots event,
although I'll admit it was mostly on the programming side. And one of the other
sheet-metal robots stopped midway through, with a curl of acrid smoke rising
above it. It's always a good day when you competition actually physically burns
out in the middle of the event :).
