Crossing over to the dark side...

Well, the pull of the dark side has finally overcome me....
I can resist it no longer... Dave my friend, you were
right.... Chris, Rob, and Bruce - I am deeply sorry....

First, it was a harmless technic suspension bridge for
a train layout - harmless methinks, after all, it WAS
a moving technic creation....

Next, it was a futuristic engine with a technic V12
engine... it was NOT a train and it was NOT
a locomotive: my career deals with engines, so I built
an engine.  At least that was my story....

But I guess I was fooling myself.... or maybe I attended
too many train shows in a row, and not enough robotics
competitions.... whatever the excuses or the reasons,
today I crossed the final threshold..... and bought
a LEGO train set, namely, the famous 10001 Metroliner
(at Winners for $99).

Yeah, first Dave crossed over, more recently Ivan, and
now me.... I guess the idea of incorporating technic
parts, engines, and mechanisms into trains was too
intriguing to resist.

But don't expect completely "realistic-looking" trains
from me anytime soon.... being an engineer, and a firm
believer in the form-follows-function mantra, expect
trains with technic panels, technic engines, and who
knows what else...

I guess now I'll be a "real" engineer? ;)

That is all for now.... back to your regularly
scheduled talk of dinners, beds, and flannel sheets...

John

PS. I need an affordable train regulator....
anyone? anyone? Bueller? anyone?

(...) Snip (...) Snip YAY John!!! Hooray for you! Well done! Welcome to the wrong side of the tracks..... and we can keep calling them "engines" if it makes you feel better? When you drift off to sleep... and you hear the sounds of a far away train (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
