Well the deadline (to commit) is tomorrow, and with it being the
largest model train show in Canada, if felt strongly enough that
there should be a LEGO presence there that I have committed
myself to attending and putting on a display on my own.

Grr.  Well, the work-drive-setup-display-teardown-drive-work cycle
doesn't appeal to me, not with only 1 or 2 other people to share
the load, but....       I'm in.  Grr.  No guarantees about not
going postal after the show, though.

Don't feel obligated - and don't do it unless you want to.  LEGO is
our hobby - not a work commitment.  I'm willing to handle it by myself.

I'll take the van down, which means the whole layout can go, tables and all.

Actually the tables wouldn't be required, as they have them there for
only $8 each.  They require that the tables be skirted though, so I was
just going to get a roll of green paper to use as "skirts" and for green
baseplate substitutes.  That big van should be able to hold about ten
times the amount of LEGO as my Honda though...  :-)

Michel: Obviously I'm going to want to borrow trains and track
from you.  If I use only my own LEGO, the display will be rather
sparse, and I can certainly fit more LEGO in my Honda than I own.
This still stands...Your rolling stock & track is the bulk of what
we've got, Michel.

Important update - A fellow Bricksmith (James Powell) has offered to
lend me any of his stuff (about 100 cars/10 engines, 580 straight, 14
points, etc. of track) including (I think) some buildings.

I'm not sure if that's more than Michel has, but it's certainly a lot.

I'm going to try to get a bunch of LEGO from TLC for a kid's play
area.  There's supposed to be over 10,000 visitors, which probably
means several thousand kids. <gulp>  What have I gotten myself into?

Get a K-8, a motor, 2 or 3 car bases & an oval of track.  We can't
cater to 1000's of kid, so don't try.
Also - of prime importance - make it absolutely clear to the show
organizers, that we CAN NOT and WILL NOT supervise a play area.

Agreed - I've already (I think) made that clear to them - yes.

(...) Just to clarify, I'm not doing this because Steve is a bricksmith, but because I think that supporting _all_ LTC's is important. PNLTC has stuff of mine on loan (a rail mobile gravitron, and a boxcar), and I loaned them the track in the (...) (24 years ago, 15-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug, lugnet.trains.org)

(...) Nah, I do want to do it - I just know what I'm getting into. ;) (...) We might as well use the tables we've got, rather than renting tables down there. Also, if they use generic banquet tables, which 103% of rental places do, there's no real (...) (24 years ago, 15-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug, lugnet.trains.org)
