  Newsgroups for LUGs?
 
I have an idea (which may or may not have been thought of, posted before) that I feel would greatly aid LUGs and their members. Could LUGNET add newsgroups for all the LUGs who want them and have them automagically crosspost to the regional groups (...) I used Freeservers {www.freeservers.com} and you get your own domain name whatyouwant.8m.com ). They have different endings than 8m, but it is the shortest. They just changed servers the past week, so they were down a bit. But I think I'm going to change and find someone else to host the domain soon. I really wasn't happy with the support I got while the servers where down. It seems when ever I ask the (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.org, lugnet.trains.org)

(...) No matter who sets up your domain, you'll still have to pay internic $35 a year to keep your domain registered (your first bill will be $70 for the first 2 years). PNLTC is hosted by a local web hosting service for free in exchange for their name and URL on our site and we also add their name to our flyers handed out at shows. Can you provide a pointer to someone that is using this to provide registration. While I (quoting from the splash page) have "sufficient development skills" to write an interface, I don't have the time. I'd rather buy names from someone that has. (...) Robin, The NGLTC is using www.truehosting.com for only $9.99 a month, that includes 50 meg, plus 10 email alias, and some other regular goodies. jt Robin Werner wrote in message ... But what about the Web Hosting part, there are companies that charge by the month and by the year. I also guess there maybe company or two (...)
