Re: TRU Chatswood info (was:sale dates)

(...) Its ironic. When musing on names, very early in the piece, I was toying with Port Lego Block, or Legoblock Bay (a three syllable echo of Botany Bay). TLC's avid persecution of all those who 'diminished their brand' by mentioning their name, (...) (26 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org)

Re: Money - budget for train show stuff - sponsorship

(...) I have a lot (probably 50-100) of the in box small catalogs that I haven't gotten around to pitching. I doubt I could get them to you in time for your show, though. I would suggest that people parting out large quantities of sets hang on to (...) (26 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.org, lugnet.general)

Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation

PNLTC 'organized' or, rather, met under the name in June 1997 so that applications could be submitted for the Sept. and Oct. GATS venues. We also started building tables at that time. Initial activity and pics were graciously posted by Ben on his (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.org, lugnet.trains.org)

Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation

(...) In the spirit of approximating, I offer the following corrections... Date Group/Club Name 1985 CWC-CW LEGO Railroad - now GMLTC "later grew into GMLTC" rather than "now GMLTC" (?) 1998-09-29 PNLTC: Pacific Northwest LEGO Train Club (U.S.A.) I (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation

(...) If at all possible, I wanna list what each group feels/defines is its official birthdate. Date of first mention is a reasonable approximator, but just that. :-) Here's the updated table: (URL) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us.nelug)

Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation

(...) <snip> (...) While 1999-07-16 is the first mention of the name NELUG I think we have decided that 1999-08-10 is probably more appropriate for an anniversary date as that was the date of our first meeting (Ideas coming together). See here. (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: When was GMLTC started? (was: Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation)

I don't think I've ever more agreed with Larry <grin> October 1992 or 1994 was when John G and I started to build with Conan and Chuck. John G a little sooner than I, it was right about the time that Conan came to work at the Lego Imagination Center (...)   Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation

(...) 11.14.1998 works for me, I believe that was the date of the first public presentation of the NGLTC layout back when it was the membership of one. But it did soon grow to two members by the end of the show. Before that it was just a layout in (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: When was GMLTC started? (was: Re: For the history books -- LUG & LTC dates of formation)

(...) I doesn't have to be exact if there isn't an exact date. I think in most cases there are exact dates...it's just that I'd prefer to know exact dates if at all possible. If not, that's OK too. --Todd (26 years ago, 7-Oct-00, to lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us, lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.loc.us.mn.msp)

  Re: When was GMLTC started?

J-1 had thought about "Greater Minnesota LEGO Train Club", and even (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-00, to lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us, lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.loc.us.mn.msp)

  Re: When was GMLTC started?

(...) 1985 was the first year a layout was taken to a show. The other date is much more fluid. (I wasn't around for either; this is based on Conan's comments today while we were trashing the old layout.) (...) That is probably much closer to your (...)
