DixieLUG Dixie LEGO Users Group (Southeastern U.S.A.) GMLUG (...)   Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) don't forget DixieLUG ! we are having our first meeting this weekend with eight people in attendance. later ~ craig~ (26 years ago, 18-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) No Prob. I figured you were kinda busy or something, so I didn't want to press the matter. Anyway, Thanks!! :) Jeff (26 years ago, 18-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) Ohp, I thought I replied to that, I guess not...sorry. I'll get these set up tonight, I think. --Todd (26 years ago, 18-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) Last week I e-mailed Todd asking if WAMALUG could have it's own group, but I haven't gotten a response yet. Although, I don't think I saw Todd posting as much as usual, so maybe he's been busy? (...) WAMALUG would be happy with a (...) (26 years ago, 18-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Sub-Domain LUGS

(...) What you're suggesting isn't necessarily "free". I know on several major hosting companies what you're describing would actually be considered reselling space to someone else because more than the single account holder would be accessing and (...) (26 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.org)

  Sub-Domain LUGS

Hi, There are some new LUG's, for example KIDLUG, who's owners have been a little "nervous" about paying domain fees. Which service will I get, can I afford it, and will I have it forever cross their minds. Possibly created by a major LUG, for (...) (26 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.org)

Larry Pieniazek wrote in message <388196D0.9A54B0E8@v...er.net>... (...) My inclination would be to keep all specific organization groups under lugnet.org (or subgroups thereof). However, in certain areas, I do see a good reason to have (...) (26 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) I know when this first came up I said that I would love one for NELUG and I still do. For now crossposting and the mailing-list work but a NELUG group would help consolidate things and it would not clutter all of the .loc groups with NELUG (...)   Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) Agreed... IF the groups want them. PNLTC at one point I think was asked and declined. A wrinkle, though... There's the current lugnet.trains.org already in existence. would a putative bayltc (bayltc is just forming, and may or may not remain (...)   Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) Ok, but AFAIK there aren't any lug newsgroups right now. There should at least be newsgroups for LUGs and LTCs made under the appropriate heirarchy. lugnet.org.us.gmltc lugnet.org.us.gmlug lugnet.org.us.nelug lugnet.org.us.wamalug etc... -Tim (...)   Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) And one that I (really!) would not like to see implemented, for two reasons. 1. automatic crossposting is, in general, a bad idea, as has been discussed here at length before. Too easy to get unintended results, too hard to maintain the (...) (26 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) One problem that I see with that is then people on those loc-groups who don't want to see org-info get it anyway, and threads are spread over multiple groups messily. I think the newsgroups for LUGs idea is cool though :) Richard (26 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Re: Newsgroups for LUGs?

(...) I like this idea as well, and had thought of it. I agree, it is a great idea. Oh, and I like that new word,"automagically" :) Ryan (26 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.org, lugnet.org.us)

  Newsgroups for LUGs?

I have an idea (which may or may not have been thought of, posted before) that I feel would greatly aid LUGs and their members. Could LUGNET add newsgroups for all the LUGs who want them and have them automagically crosspost to the regional groups (...)   Re: Web Hosting Questions?

I used Freeservers {www.freeservers.com} and you get your own domain name whatyouwant.8m.com ). They have different endings than 8m, but it is the shortest. There are no charges if you choose 20mb and ads. The ads are at the tops of pages. If you (...) (26 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.org, lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: Web Hosting Questions?

They just changed servers the past week, so they were down a bit. But I think I'm going to change and find someone else to host the domain soon. I really wasn't happy with the support I got while the servers where down. It seems when ever I ask the (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.org, lugnet.trains.org)
