Yes there is some validity to it and I feel your pain. (hopefully it's not
as bad as mine when I first learned that there was a secret pipeline for
parts somewhere Down Under) I think the point you make is more valid for the
CAD summit than the train summit, though. (and I may well be biased since I
went to one and not the other). I know you were having fun (I was ROFLMAO)
so forgive this semiserious answer...
I'll try not to say those three letters :-) but the train summit attendees
DID bring back some useful information that was shared. The very fact that
it happened sent a strong signal that "trains are not dead". It was also
important to say that it was the "first" train summit. We also did discuss
in public some of the things (without being specific) that LD is going to do
to support train clubs. We didn't share as much as we would have liked to if
there were no other considerations than leak club feeding, of course, but we
did our best to convey as much as we could
The CAD summit... well. First let me say that I am not under (oops, almost
said it...) w.r.t. that meeting but I did know a bit about it in advance. So
I STILL have to be careful in what I say.
But again, the very fact that it happened and LD was willing to admit/bless
admitting (Brad was looking over my shoulder when I typed that first "hello
from the train summit" so I assume someone was looking over Tim's shoulder
too, although who knows?) that it did has implications. Recall if you will
the dustup when the PR thing came out about "design your own set" and a
number of us were wondering what support if any for LDraw there would be,
etc, etc... If there was to be no support whatever, why have a summit? So we
don't know the details, but the fact that it happened is good news,
probably. (unless you have an anti LDraw agenda and would like to see it all
swept away and replaced).
Helps?
