Most companies will most definitly NOT let you touch one of their routers,
understadable considering how much the bloody things cost.

I was mostly kidding.  :)  We have several 7513's and I know some of
the modules alone in those things cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Heck, the power supplies are several thousand each from what I was
told.

Our instructor today (Cisco class, but he's also an MCSE) told us
the old "how many MCSE's does it take to plug in a lightbulb" joke.

(For those who haven't heard it - the punchline is "None.  Darkness
becomes the new standard.")

'Course, I asked him how many Cisco account reps does it take to
change a lightbulb?  Doesn't matter, after the companies are through
being run through the ringer on the routers and switches they don't
have enough money to buy light bulbs.

This is supposedly a really good simulator that is written to give
you the next best thing while going through the Sybex CCNA study
guide everyone seems to recommend.

Gotta love the book, I'm probably going to take the test after christmas
when I finish the class, I've already read the book thru once and am
rereading it right now, you can probably still get it at ummm lemee dig out
the url.... http://www.bookpool.com for cheaper than anywhere else.

Yeah, Bookpool was out of stock.  I used a $10 off coupon and got it
for $28.90 including shipping from Fatbrain.com.

I hope to be done with the MCSE within a month.  Since I'll be
studying for the CCNA with a couple guys from the network group in
my department I'll actually be able to use our test lab after hours
with them.  We've evidently got a 7513, 5513, 5505, 5000, and a few
other older models setup there so we should be able to simulate darn
near anything.  I'd like to think I'll have the CCNA before the end
of the year.  I plan on giving UTK a chance to hold onto me but if
they don't come through I'll start applying to some places locally
and also to some places that are looking for people willing to
travel but also wanting to live at home.
