| There are a LOT of different missing persons databases out there, making it hard to search them all if you're a relative or one of the missing, so someone came up with the idea of consolidating the info. So many people volunteered to help with this that the load from many many simultaneous connections apparently took the New Orleans Network (where the data is being collated) DB server down, they're upgrading and said they'd be back up soonish. Server is back up, and something like 15-20,000 free form records (the more automated ones are being scraped rather than hand transcribed) have been transcribed already by volunteers, but there's lots more to do yet.
