Disgusting.  A few million dollars investment by Micro$uck in SCO and suddenly
the smaller company is all piss and vinegar, snapping at its UNIX brethren with
a ridiculous threat to sue any company using Linux on a server if they don't
cough up a $699 licensing fee.  (That license apparently only lasts until
mid-October, at which time another even larger fee will be charged.)  I guess
"SCO" stands for "Screw Customers Over."

SCO still hasn't even proven in court that they have any legal claim to any
Linux code, yet they are already employing heavy-handed tactics.  "Pay up now or
we will sue you later."  (Hmm. I wonder where they learned that kind of
behavior?)  I hope this sends a shiver down the spine of every corporate
customer of both companies.  Find the exits NOW!!!

It's enough to make this long-time Windows monkey shred his WIN32 programming
reference manuals and install Linux today.  That's right, I am becoming a Linux
programmer as of this moment.  (Come and get me, MSCO!!!)

Until today, I must admit that I have regarded Linux as a mere curiosity.  Now I
see that the entire future of the computing industry depends on the success of
alternatives to the Windows monopoly.  One more rebel joins the cause!

- Chris.

(...) In fact, they haven't even given a hint as to what they are actually claiming they own! (...) Cool. I suggest you download a copy of the Linux kernel from SCO themselves, distributed under the GPL. You can get the source from: (...) (21 years ago, 6-Aug-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
