Good freeware newsreader for OS X?

I hope you can help me. I'm looking for a good freeware newsreader that runs
under Mac OS X.

I tried the newsreader built into Netscape 6, but Netscape is too slow on my
machine. I tried another newsreader, MT Newswatcher, it worked good, but it
needs to retrieve *all* the headlines for a newsgroup *every time* I want to
read it, which means I need to wait while the newsreader fetches 4000
subject lines, *every* time I want to read Lugnet. Other than that, it works
good.

Finally, I tried Halime, and I can't get it to work at all.

If you have any suggestions about a (preferably) free newsreader which is
easy to use and works well, please let me know where I can get it.

Thanks in advance.

There's also Thoth, but it might not be any nicer. (22 years ago, 2-Jun-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) you should be able to run slrn[1] under OS X, right? that's a very good newsreader... I use a patched version of mutt[2] for it, so you can look at that too :) Dan 1. (2 URLs) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
