Does there exist a Perl-script which can log onto a web mail service
(eg. Hotmail) and pull down unread mail?

Or can it not be done to program such a thing using Perl?

This would probably be really complicated - you'd have to set the script up
to interpret each different service and get the messages in their entirety.
Quick way with Hotmail is to use Outlook Express as it can retrieve Hotmail
messages. I believe that Yahoo now has a POP3 gateway so you can get mail
from that easily. For other services you'd need to check their FAQs and see
if POP3 gateways are available, or add-ons to popular mail clients.
