I never used IE, and I will probably never will - unless they come out
with IE for linux and then I'll give it a shot.  I used to use NN and my
MOC browser :P  but now I've switched to mozilla, and I'm _very_ happy
with it :)

I can't get TrueType fonts to display correctly in Mozilla (a build from two
nights ago).  Do they work for you?  I'm specifying 'times new roman' and
'courier new' and 'arial' for the three fonts (serif, monospace, and sans-
serif, respectively).  But it's displaying some other font instead.  Netscape
Navigator 4.6-4.7, OTOH, handles the TrueType lookups just fine, but always
displays them in 12 pt.  :-(

as far as I can tell, mozilla has no problems showing any kind of fonts
- though I never bothered to install to many.  What X server are you
using?  As a rule, font problems are related to xfs, and not to the
application...

Maybe there is some magic formula I'm supposed to be able to come up
with to do things like make the text readable and normal on all pages
but part of me just balks at having to fiddle with something as silly
as that.

errr... I'm not sure what you're talking about here - I never had a
problem with NN and text being readable?

Hmm, I haven't had anything _but_ problems getting NN to display readable
text under Linux.  NN looks awesome on Win32, and sorta OK on MacOS (the
Mac has crummy fonts by default), but NN still "ain't there" in the font
department under Linux...unless...do you know some magic tricks???

nope, no tricks - but never had any kind of problems... :/
