Well, I did try: unsubscribe, quit Communicator, relaunch, then
resubscribe. Somehow it kept everything. They were still there. I
*might* try deleting lugnet.com, but I want to avoid loosing all the
read/unread stats from the other groups.
I have also tried setting the various newsgroup config parms (something
like 'keep only the most recent [500] articles'), but so far I don't see
how to trigger a mass purge of the older stuff.

One thing that could possibly work is deleting the lugnet.general.snm (I think) file in the lugnet.com subfolder of the news subfolder of the Netscape user folder (good grief, that's (...) (25 years ago, 17-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
